Germany and US Pledge Heavy Tanks

Germany confirmed it would supply Leopard 2 tanks and allow allies to re-export their German-made Leopard 2s. The US simultaneously announced it would send 31 M1 Abrams tanks. The announcements ended months of debate over tank supplies, removing a key psychological barrier to Western escalation. Poland, Canada, Spain, and others subsequently pledged Leopards.
