PURSUE Tranche 5 Released — 41 Files Include Gulf of Oman Swarm, Afghanistan Triangle Accounts
The Department of War released a fifth PURSUE batch on August 7, spanning 41 records — documents, images, and videos from the Pentagon, FBI, CIA, State Department, and Executive Office of the President, with files dating from 1950 to 2026. The most notable case describes a September 2021 incident in the Gulf of Oman in which Special Operations forces aboard an AC-130J gunship observed roughly 25 unidentified aerial objects flying at 250–1,300 mph in shifting formations that 'appeared to react to the aircraft firing its main cannon' during a live-fire exercise. A separate account from a former military pilot describes a 2002 sighting near Bagram, Afghanistan, of a silent, equilateral-triangle-shaped object roughly 500 feet across blotting out the stars while moving west to east at an estimated 150 knots. The release also includes 2026 FBI-documented infrared footage from the Western US showing two slow-moving objects tracked for 5-10 minutes. AARO said it could not resolve most of the encounters described. The fifth release brings the cumulative PURSUE total to 379 declassified files across five tranches since the May 8, 2026 portal launch.
