| Tlatelolco 1968

The National Security Archive (Washington D.C.) publishes declassified NSA and CIA cables from October 1968 showing that US intelligence was aware in real time of the massacre, with one cable referencing at least 20–28 dead and hundreds detained. The documents show US officials monitored the student movement and were in contact with Mexican security forces. The release marks a turning point in international awareness of the coverup's scale.
