Two Killed, Five Wounded in Suwayda Gunfire Over Financial Dispute

| Syria

A dispute described by local sources as financial in nature broke out in central Suwayda on the evening of August 6, 2026, escalating into gunfire near al-Fursan roundabout that wounded three people. Clashes resumed after midnight around al-Jarra roundabout as an extension of the initial incident, killing Bashar al-Zarouni and Nazir al-Arbid and wounding two more. It followed a similar financially motivated gunfire incident in Suwayda city the previous evening (August 5), underscoring the fragile security and economic conditions in Druze-majority Suwayda more than a year after the July 2025 ceasefire.
