Israeli Forces Shell Abidin Village in Yarmouk Basin, Displacing Families Overnight
Israeli forces advanced into Abidin (Abdin) village in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Deraa province overnight June 28–29, 2026, firing artillery shells and illumination flares close to homes and prompting residents to flee to neighboring villages. Israeli forces withdrew by Monday morning, allowing residents to return. Separately, the IDF said its troops in southern Syria came under fire and retaliated with a helicopter strike. Syria's Foreign Ministry called the incursion 'a flagrant violation of Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity'; Turkey also condemned the operation. The Syrian Sijil Center, which monitors Israeli activity in Syria, recorded nearly 300 Israeli operations or violations in Deraa and Quneitra during June 2026 alone, including 107 incursions and raids.
