US Envoy Barrack Meets SDF's Abdi and KRG's Barzani in Erbil on Military Integration

US Special Presidential Envoy for Syria and Iraq Tom Barrack met Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi in Erbil on June 16, 2026, to discuss the operational steps required to integrate the SDF and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) into Syrian state and military institutions. Barrack reaffirmed Washington's commitment to supporting the integration process, which stems from the January 30, 2026 SDF-Damascus agreement, and reportedly conveyed US expectations for the process to be completed by the end of 2026.
