Serian Climbs to 'Very Unhealthy' 258 as Sarawak Remains Worst-Hit; No Hazardous Readings Nationwide

| Super El Niño

Sarawak's Serian district recorded a 'very unhealthy' API of 258 as of 9am on Sept. 12 — its highest reading since easing out of a brief hazardous spike on Sept. 8 — while no monitoring station nationwide crossed the hazardous (300+) threshold. Eight other Sarawak areas registered unhealthy readings: Sri Aman (197), Samarahan (195), Kuching (191), Bintulu (152), Sarikei (151), Samalaju (148), Mukah (118) and Sibu (108). Peninsular Malaysia saw 'moderate' to 'good' air quality, which officials attributed to heavy morning rainfall clearing haze away from the west coast.
