Serian Climbs Back to 'Very Unhealthy' 222 as Haze Bites 14 Areas Nationwide
Sarawak's Serian district recorded a 'very unhealthy' API of 222 as of 6pm on Sept 11 — its worst reading since easing out of the hazardous band on Sept 9-10 — as 14 areas nationwide, 11 of them in Sarawak, registered unhealthy air quality. Alongside Serian, Sri Aman (186), Samarahan (185), Kuching (181), Sarikei (160), Samalaju (157), Bintulu (157), Sibu (156), Mukah (153), Miri (151) and the Miri Industrial Training Institute (126) were all unhealthy. Earlier in the day, as of 9am, 14 areas nationwide were unhealthy including the same 11 Sarawak locations plus Pasir Gudang (Johor), Johan Setia (Selangor) and a station in Sabah. Peninsular Malaysia's Pasir Gudang eased from unhealthy to moderate by 6pm. Nationwide, 48 areas registered moderate air quality and nine recorded good readings; no station recorded a hazardous reading.
