SAF and Allied Forces Capture Hamrat al-Wiz, Tightening Control of North Kordofan Supply Corridor

Sudanese army, Joint Force, and Special Task units captured the town of Hamrat al-Wiz in North Kordofan state on Sunday, September 6, 2026, driving out RSF fighters who withdrew from the area, according to military sources. Field commander Malik al-Burof said in a video filmed outside the town's captured police headquarters that 'the army, the Joint Force, and Special Task units have liberated Hamrat al-Wiz and expelled the RSF.' The town — a commercial hub for agricultural products and livestock along the highway linking North Kordofan to Khartoum — broadens the army's defensive buffer around the garrison towns of Bara and Jabrat al-Sheikh and opens routes toward Um Badr and Sodari, extending gains from the army's late-July offensive that cleared large swathes of the state and restored control of the Export Road.
