Kurmuk Commissioner Accuses Ethiopia of Hosting Four UAE-Backed RSF Training Camps Near Blue Nile Border
Abdelati Mohamed El Faki, the Sudanese-government-aligned commissioner of Kurmuk in southeastern Blue Nile state, said on September 3, 2026 that the RSF was running four camps inside Ethiopia — Fano (roughly 40km from Kurmuk), Dabbous and Abramo (southwest of Asosa), and Jabal al-Dush, which he said hosts drone launch facilities roughly 30km from Kurmuk — to train RSF fighters and foreign mercenaries and stage drone operations, allegedly under Ethiopian intelligence supervision and with Emirati financing. Sudan Tribune said it could not independently verify the claim; Ethiopia has previously denied Sudanese government accusations that it facilitates arms transfers or training for the RSF, and the UAE has repeatedly rejected allegations that it backs the paramilitary group militarily.
