SAF Air Defenses Shoot Down Two RSF FH-95 Drones Over Bara, North Kordofan

Sudanese Armed Forces air defense units shot down two RSF-operated FH-95 long-range drones over the Bara area of North Kordofan State on Monday, August 17, 2026 — the army's second and third confirmed drone intercept in the region within days. A SAF statement said, 'With Allah's help and guidance, our forces succeeded in shooting down an enemy FH-95 drone in the Bara area of North Kordofan State, the second aircraft to be downed today.' The army said it has now destroyed seven RSF drones in the wider Kordofan region since June. The strikes come as the RSF has intensified drone operations across Bara and Jabrat al-Sheikh and along the export highway to El Obeid, the North Kordofan capital, since SAF's July 25 offensive recaptured Bara, Um Sayala, and other nearby towns. No casualties or material damage were reported from either interception.
