Army, Joint Forces Repel 250-Vehicle RSF Assault on Jabrat al-Shaikh, North Kordofan

The Sudanese army and allied Joint Forces repelled the RSF's largest assault in weeks on Jabrat al-Shaikh, North Kordofan, on August 13, 2026, following nearly two days of unprecedented RSF troop buildups staging from neighboring Darfur. The offensive targeted the town's defenses from three directions with an estimated 250 combat vehicles, including armored units. After heavy fighting, the army and its allies destroyed numerous RSF vehicles, captured roughly 60 more, and killed dozens of RSF fighters; Joint Forces media released footage of destroyed and captured vehicles and captured combatants. Control of Jabrat al-Shaikh is critical to the transport corridor the RSF has sought to sever to pressure El Obeid and Omdurman.
