SAF Drone Strike on Tribal Court in North Darfur Kills 35, Rights Group Says

| Sudan Conflict

A drone strike hit a traditional court gathering under a tree in the village of Garra al-Zawaya, North Darfur state — roughly 150km west of El Fasher and under RSF control — on August 2, 2026 at about 1pm local time, killing at least 35 people including four tribal leaders and two RSF commanders, according to the rights group Emergency Lawyers. Civilians had gathered to hear local case hearings and resolve community disputes when the strike occurred. Emergency Lawyers attributed the strike to Sudanese Armed Forces drones; the military did not respond to the allegation. The group called for an independent and transparent investigation.
