SAF Fourth Infantry Division Recaptures Muqja Station South of Damazin, Pushing Back RSF-SPLM-N Blue Nile Advance
The Sudanese Armed Forces' Fourth Infantry Division in Damazin announced on April 21 that it had taken full control of Muqja town and the strategically significant Muqja station, located between Kurmuk and Ed Damazin along the Blue Nile State corridor. RSF and SPLM-N (al-Hilu) forces had seized the area after their March 23 capture of Kurmuk; the recapture of Muqja station is the SAF's first significant counter-advance in Blue Nile State, potentially slowing the RSF-SPLM-N push toward Ed Damazin and the critical Roseires Dam. The SAF statement reported 'heavy losses in personnel and equipment among RSF and allied SPLM-North fighters' during the operation. Muqja's recapture is significant because the Kurmuk–Damazin road is the primary supply axis into the Blue Nile front; controlling Muqja station disrupts RSF logistics moving north toward Damazin. The Roseires Dam, which generates approximately 280 MW and provides power to central and eastern Sudan, remains the ultimate strategic prize on this front.
