Three Detainees Die in RSF-Run Daqris Prison; Facility Holds Up to 12,000 People from Multiple States

| Sudan Conflict

Three deaths were reported at the Daqris detention facility in South Darfur — one of the largest prison complexes operated by the Rapid Support Forces. Named detainees who died include Ezz El-Din Mohamed Adam Al-Hassan ('Al-Dash'), who died from untreated diabetes complications after more than two years of detention; Adam Ali Osman; and Tijani Abu Bakr Al-Mahdi. Al-Hassan's sister subsequently died from shock upon learning of her brother's death. Sources indicate additional deaths occurred among detainees from Rahad al-Bardi locality over the preceding three months. The facility reportedly holds between 10,000 and 12,000 individuals, including prisoners of war from multiple Sudanese states; family visits are largely restricted and only permitted through RSF officer mediation. Deaths from disease and neglect in RSF detention facilities reflect the broader pattern documented by human rights organizations: systematic detention of civilians and POWs under conditions that constitute cruel and inhuman treatment under international law.
