SAF Drone Strike Kills RSF-Aligned Ta'asees Founder Osama Hassan in Nyala; Near-Miss on RSF Premier

A targeted SAF drone strike hit a house in Nyala's Khartoum district on April 1, killing Osama Hassan — a founder of the RSF-aligned Ta'asees (Foundation) coalition, the civic body backing the RSF's parallel administration in Darfur. Two munitions were fired in quick succession. Four others were seriously or moderately injured. The strike came within meters of RSF-backed 'Prime Minister' Hassan Al Taishy, who was evacuated from the area immediately after. Unconfirmed reports suggested the actual target may have been RSF parallel administration Health Minister Alaaeldin Nuqd, who was present in the building. The RSF parallel administration condemned the strike as 'treacherous and cowardly.' Analysts noted the strike demonstrated growing SAF capacity for targeted strikes deep inside RSF-controlled Darfur and could signal an escalation toward targeted assassinations as a recurring tactic by both sides — the RSF had itself killed a Nyala pediatrician in a separate targeted killing days earlier.
