Omar al-Bashir Overthrown in Military Coup

| Sudan Conflict

Following months of mass civilian protests against his 30-year rule, President Omar al-Bashir was overthrown in a joint military-RSF coup. A Transitional Sovereignty Council was formed with both military and civilian members, beginning Sudan's fragile democratic transition. Both Burhan (SAF) and Hemedti (RSF) emerged as dominant figures, sidelining civilian voices from the start.
