Cygnus NG-24 'S.S. Steven R. Nagel' Captured and Berthed at ISS
Northrop Grumman's Cygnus XL spacecraft, the S.S. Steven R. Nagel (CRS NG-24), was captured by the International Space Station's Canadarm2 robotic arm at 12:19 p.m. CT (1:19 p.m. ET / 17:19 UTC) on Monday, April 13, 2026 — two days after its April 11 launch from SLC-40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. NASA astronaut Jack Hathaway operated the Canadarm2 controls, with fellow Expedition 74 crew member NASA astronaut Chris Williams monitoring the spacecraft's approach. The capture occurred approximately 30 minutes later than originally scheduled, after teams on the ground and aboard the station confirmed good data agreement across all systems. Following capture, the spacecraft was berthed to the Unity module's Earth-facing port, officially delivering nearly 11,000 pounds (~5,000 kg) of supplies, equipment, and science experiments to the Expedition 74 crew. The SpaceX Falcon 9 that launched NG-24 on April 11 had also inaugurated the new Landing Zone 40 (LZ-40) pad adjacent to SLC-40 — adding infrastructure to SpaceX's Cape Canaveral landing complex. Cygnus NG-24 is expected to remain berthed at the ISS for approximately six months.
