Grasshopper VTVL Testbed Makes First Hop

SpaceX's Grasshopper vertical-takeoff-vertical-landing testbed made its first 1.8-meter hop at McGregor, Texas. The 106-foot tall prototype — built on a Falcon 9 v1.0 first stage with landing legs — was the key development tool for the propulsive booster landing technology that would transform launch economics.
