Day 791: State Police Repel Gunfire from Armed Civilians Near Las Bateas, South of Culiacán

At approximately 10:56 PM on September 22, 2026, State Preventive Police and the Grupo de Operaciones Especiales de Sinaloa (GOES) conducting patrols near the Las Bateas community in the Costa Rica sindicatura, south of Culiacán, were fired on by occupants of a pickup truck. Officers repelled the aggression and pursued the vehicle. Two armed civilians were detained, one of them wounded and hospitalized. Authorities seized two 5.56×45mm rifles, 12 magazines, 339 rounds, two ballistic vests and a gray Nissan NP300/Frontier pickup that had been reported stolen.
