Day 769: Week-Long Sweep Across All 20 Sinaloa Municipalities Yields 16 Detained, 40 Explosive Devices Seized

The Sinaloa Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (SSP) reported Monday, August 31, 2026 that coordinated deployments across all 20 of the state's municipalities during the week of August 23–30 — run by municipal police, the State Preventive Police, the Armed Forces, SEDENA, the federal Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana, the National Guard and the Secretaría de Marina — resulted in 16 detentions. Seizures included 22 firearms, 115 magazines, 3,048 cartridges, one hand grenade, 40 improvised explosive devices, seven vehicles, one armored vehicle, 248 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, and 11 tactical vests. Officials said the sustained operations, launched amid the ongoing Chapitos–Mayos faction dispute that has driven violence in Sinaloa since September 2024, were intended to "inhibir hechos delictivos" statewide. The tally rolls up several individual operations reported during the week, including an August 29 action credited with eight detentions, weapons, explosives and drugs.
