Day 768: Unknown Gunmen Leave Funeral Wreath and Threatening Graffiti Outside Culiacán Private School

During the night of Sunday, August 30, 2026, unidentified individuals arrived by vehicle at the Colegio Inglés de Durango, on Boulevard Villas del Río in Culiacán, left a funeral wreath at the entrance, and spray-painted intimidating graffiti in black paint on one of the school's perimeter fences. A 911 report brought elements of the Grupo Interinstitucional to the scene, who removed the wreath and established a surveillance point; no one was harmed and authorities had not identified who was responsible or their motive as of the following day. The incident came on the eve of the start of the 2026–2027 school year across Sinaloa, amid the ongoing Chapitos–Mayos faction war that has gripped the state since September 2024; Sepyc (the state education secretariat) confirmed classes would proceed as scheduled at the school under reinforced security.
