Day 756: Woman's Body Found With Signs of Violence on Mazatlán–Culiacán Highway

A woman's body was found around kilometer 8 of the free Mazatlán–Culiacán highway, near the El Habal area north of Mazatlán, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Motorists spotted the body on the shoulder of the south-to-north lanes and alerted authorities. The victim, wearing shorts, a blouse and black Croc-style sandals, showed apparent signs of violence; her identity had not been released as of the report. Elements from all three levels of government cordoned off the scene, and State Attorney General's Office (FGE) personnel ordered the body removed to the Forensic Medical Service for autopsy and identification.
