Day 755: Five Killed in Separate Monday Attacks Across Mazatlán and Escuinapa
The Sinaloa Attorney General's Office (FGE) opened four intentional-homicide investigations after five bodies were found across Mazatlán and Escuinapa on Monday, August 17, 2026. In Mazatlán, two men on a motorcycle entered an avocado stall inside the Mercado de Abastos 'La Yarda' in the El Venadillo neighborhood just before 9:00 AM and shot dead the vendor, identified as Juan Ramón 'N' (approximately 45). Later that night, around 9:30 PM, gunmen in a vehicle opened fire with high-caliber weapons at the crossing of Las Águilas and Las Garzas streets in the Infonavit Alarcón neighborhood, killing Jaime 'N' (41) at the scene; a second victim died afterward at a local hospital. In Escuinapa, a man was shot dead inside his home in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood, and a second man, approximately 20–25 years old, was shot on Río Escondido street in the Azteca neighborhood and died on the scene. No arrests were reported in any of the four incidents.
