Alcalde Presents Anticorruption Package Modifying 19 Laws, Creating 2 New Ones

On August 30, 2026 (Sunday), Presidential Legal Counsel Luisa María Alcalde presented Sheinbaum's anticorruption reform package to Morena's Senate caucus, ahead of formal introduction to Congress. The package modifies 19 existing laws and creates two new ones, introducing real-time technological monitoring of public spending, tighter oversight of government contracting, and mandatory "proactive transparency" in public tenders — publishing bidding information without waiting for citizen requests. The design, led by Anticorruption and Good Government Secretary Raquel Buenrostro with input from the Federal Administrative Justice Tribunal and the Federal Auditor's Office (ASF), also aims to strengthen those two institutions' capacity to pursue corruption and good-governance cases. Separately, Morena's Senate bloc proposed federal deputy Higinio Martínez to preside over the Senate's Mesa Directiva for the third year of the LXVI Legislature.
