Mexico Dispatches Humanitarian Aid Ship to Cuba, Considers Oil Shipments for Energy Crisis

| Sheinbaum (2024–)

Mexico sent a humanitarian aid ship to Cuba to help address the island's acute energy crisis, which has produced widespread blackouts. Sheinbaum announced Mexico was also studying the feasibility of oil shipments to Cuba, reaffirming solidarity with Havana in the face of continued U.S. sanctions pressure. The assistance comes as the U.S. Trump administration intensified pressure on regional governments to sever ties with Cuba. Two of three aid vessels later lost radio contact, triggering a Navy search operation announced on March 27.
