National September 11 Memorial Museum Opens

The National September 11 Memorial Museum opens to the public, built 70 feet underground beneath the memorial's reflecting pools. The museum houses more than 10,000 artifacts, 23,000 photographs, nearly 2,000 oral histories, and 500 hours of video. Exhibits include the Vesey Street stairs (the 'Survivors' Stairs'), a portion of the antenna from the North Tower, a destroyed fire truck, and a Hall of Remembrance with photographs of every victim. The museum receives over 3 million visitors annually.
