National September 11 Memorial Opens on 10th Anniversary

| 9/11

The National September 11 Memorial & Museum opens at Ground Zero on the 10th anniversary of the attacks. The memorial features two massive reflecting pools — 'Reflecting Absence' — set within the footprints of the original Twin Towers, with the names of all 2,983 victims (including 1993 WTC bombing victims) inscribed on bronze parapets. Waterfalls cascade into pools over 30 feet deep. The memorial is designed by Michael Arad and Peter Walker.
