James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act Signed

| 9/11

President Obama signs the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, allocating $4.3 billion for health monitoring and treatment of first responders and others sickened by toxic exposure at Ground Zero. The act is named after NYPD officer James Zadroga, who died in 2006 of respiratory disease attributed to Ground Zero exposure. The bill passed after a sustained campaign by Jon Stewart and The Daily Show to highlight Congress's failure to act.
