MBS Calls Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim on Regional Security and Bilateral Cooperation
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held a phone call with Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on May 15 to review bilateral ties, joint Gulf cooperation, and the latest regional and international developments. The call focused on ongoing efforts to enhance regional security and stability amid the fragile Iran ceasefire situation. Saudi-Qatari relations have significantly normalized since the lifting of the Saudi-led blockade of Qatar in January 2021, and both countries have been coordinating Gulf Cooperation Council responses to the Iran war. Qatar's unique diplomatic position — maintaining relations with both Iran and the US, and hosting the Al Udeid Air Base — makes Qatari-Saudi coordination particularly significant during this period.
