Guinea Dismantles GSIM/JNIM Terrorist Network, Arrests Multiple Suspects
Guinea's General Prosecutor's Office announced the dismantling of a suspected terrorist network linked to GSIM (JNIM), with multiple individuals arrested and charged with terrorism, criminal association, and financing of terrorism. Investigations revealed GSIM-affiliated WhatsApp groups with over 500 members, including 38 Guineans, used to radicalize and coordinate operations. Guinean armed forces had already conducted an operation in the east, near the Malian border, detaining individuals suspected of supporting JNIM logistics and recruitment. Two identified suspects — Ibrahima Sow and Cheick Ibrahima Savane — were charged before a Kaloum district court. Authorities cited the southward expansion of Sahel jihadism as a major threat to Guinea's national security.
