Drone strike sparks fire at Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl, killing one

Ukrainian drones struck the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in Yaroslavl overnight — one of Russia's largest, with capacity of roughly 15 million tonnes of crude a year, producing gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and other petroleum products. Yaroslavl region Governor Mikhail Yevrayev said one civilian was killed and 27 people were injured after falling drone debris struck an intercity bus; he said 67 drones were downed over the region, with debris also hitting residential and commercial buildings. Russia's Defense Ministry claimed 512 Ukrainian drones were intercepted nationwide over 24 hours. President Zelensky confirmed the strike, part of a wave that also hit a Tu-95MS bomber at Engels air base. It was at least the eighth confirmed strike on Slavneft-YANOS in 2026.
