Drones hit Novokuibyshevsk refinery and Ozon warehouse in one of the deepest strikes of the summer

Ukrainian long-range drones struck the Rosneft-owned Novokuibyshevsk refinery (8.8 million tonnes/year capacity) in Russia's Samara region overnight, sparking a fire at a facility that produces jet fuel for Russian forces and has now been hit repeatedly since April 2026. In the same wave, drones sent more than 1,000km into Russia also struck a 75,000 sq m Ozon fulfillment center in Chapayevsk — the first attack on Russia's second-largest e-commerce platform after weeks of strikes on rival Wildberries — forcing evacuation of over 500 workers as fire spread across the site. The Moscow Times reported at least six people killed overnight across multiple regions from the broader strike wave, with several wounded in the Samara strikes; Russia's Defense Ministry claimed 457 drones downed nationwide.
