Ukrainian drones set Lukoil's Perm refinery ablaze, 1,500km from the front

Ukrainian long-range drones struck the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez refinery in Perm overnight, sparking a large fire at one of Russia's top-10 refining complexes by capacity — more than 1,500km from the Ukrainian border, among the deepest strikes of the campaign. Perm region Governor Dmitry Makhonin said air defenses downed 16 drones over the region and that an industrial facility was damaged, with one man injured. President Zelensky confirmed the strike, framing it as part of Ukraine's 'long-range sanctions' campaign against refineries funding Russia's war effort. The facility has been repeatedly targeted since spring 2026, adding another major refinery to the list of repeat-strike targets driving the ongoing capacity crunch behind the domestic fuel shortage.
