López Aliaga fraud protests rock Lima as election results remain uncertified

| Peru

More than two weeks after Peru's April 12 general election, first-round results remained uncertified amid ongoing fraud claims by third-place finisher Rafael López Aliaga (Renovación Popular). López Aliaga — who finished roughly 25,000 votes behind second-place Roberto Sánchez — had mobilized approximately 3,000 supporters in Lima on April 20, appeared outside the JNE (National Electoral Jury) headquarters, and issued a 24-hour ultimatum threatening 'civil insurgence.' International observers including the EU Election Observation Mission and Peru's Defensoría del Pueblo dismissed the fraud allegations as unsubstantiated. OAS, JNE, and ONPE technical teams continued processing ballots under intense political pressure.
