FGR Seizes Lozoya's 51M Peso Lomas de Bezares Mansion via Extinction of Domain

| Peña Nieto (2012–2018)

A federal appellate court — the First Collegiate Court in Civil Matters of the First Circuit — confirmed the FGR's extinction-of-domain action over former Pemex CEO Emilio Lozoya Austin's Lomas de Bezares residence in Mexico City, valued at more than 51 million pesos (approximately $2.5 million USD). The court ruled the property was acquired with illicit funds linked to the overpriced purchase of the Agronitrogenados fertilizer plant during Lozoya's tenure as Pemex CEO (2012–2016). After nearly five years of contested litigation, the property is now formally incorporated into Mexican state patrimony. The ruling represents the most tangible asset recovery in the broader Odebrecht-related corruption proceedings and reinforces the FGR's extinction-of-domain strategy as the primary accountability mechanism in cases where criminal convictions have stalled.
