CNDH Rejects Court Order to Create New Ayotzinapa Truth Commission
Mexico's National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) rejected a judicial resolution that ordered the creation of a special truth commission for the Ayotzinapa case, calling the amparo ruling 'one that has done much damage to investigating Ayotzinapa' and stating it would impede rather than advance the search for truth. The CNDH stated that creating a formal truth commission would bias ongoing criminal investigations, which required forensic and prosecutorial independence. The decision came as families of the 43 disappeared students continued their 11-year wait for answers, with six parents having died without learning their children's fate.
