AMLO Wins Landslide: 53.2% — Largest Margin Since 1994
Andrés Manuel López Obrador (Morena) won the presidential election with 53.2% of the vote — a record 31-percentage-point margin over second-place Ricardo Anaya (PAN coalition, 22.3%). PRI candidate José Antonio Meade received only 16%. Morena also won a supermajority in Congress and six governorships. The result was universally interpreted as a rejection of Peña Nieto's corruption, impunity, Ayotzinapa handling, and economic stagnation. It was the largest PRI electoral defeat in the party's history.
