43 Normalistas Forcibly Disappeared in Iguala, Guerrero

Forty-three male students from the Escuela Normal Rural 'Raúl Isidro Burgos' (Ayotzinapa) were forcibly disappeared in Iguala, Guerrero. Students had commandeered buses to travel to Mexico City for October 2 commemorations. Iguala municipal police, reportedly acting on orders of Mayor José Luis Abarca (allegedly linked to the Guerreros Unidos cartel), intercepted and handed over the students. Six people were killed in attacks on the buses the same night; 25+ were wounded.
