Colombia's De la Espriella Extradites Five Former Peace Negotiators, Declares End of 'Total Peace'

August 27, 2026 — President Abelardo De la Espriella ordered the effective extradition to the United States of five individuals who had been recognized as representatives in dialogue processes advanced under predecessor Gustavo Petro's 'Total Peace' policy, saying their extraditions — approved by Petro's government in 2025 — had been suspended solely because of their roles in the talks. The five are Geovanny Andrés Rojas ('Araña,' Comandos de Frontera), Willinton Henao Gutiérrez ('Mocho Olmedo,' FARC dissidents), Carmen Evelio Castillo ('Muñeca,' Los Pachenca/ACSN), Gabriel Yepes Mejía ('HH,' an ELN dissident faction leader) and Fredy Castillo Carrillo ('Pinocho,' ACSN) — wanted in the US on drug-trafficking, illegal-weapons and narco-terrorism charges. De la Espriella, who took office Aug. 5 pledging a military crackdown on armed groups, said "In my government, there will be no peace processes," formalizing the dismantling of Total Peace, Petro's signature effort to negotiate simultaneously with the ELN, FARC dissident factions and other armed and criminal organizations.
