Activists Mark Two-Year Anniversary of 'Beautiful Six' Hostages' Bodies Returning, Protest at PM Residence

Activists from the Women Demand Life movement demonstrated outside the Prime Minister's Residence in Jerusalem on Monday, August 31, 2026 to mark the two-year anniversary of the return of the bodies of the 'Beautiful Six' — Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Eden Yerushalmi, Carmel Gat, Almog Sarusi, Alexander Lobanov, and Ori Danino — six hostages taken captive during the October 7, 2023 attack who were murdered by Hamas in Gaza in late August 2024 after roughly ten months in captivity, shortly before their remains were recovered. Protesters carried signs reading 'We won't forget; they could have returned alive' and accused the government of lacking accountability for the deaths, saying 'the prime minister and his aides have been busy covering up and lying since October 7' and that Netanyahu rejected deals that could have brought the six home while they were still alive. The Hostages and Missing Families Forum separately said a hostage deal had been on the table for over two months before the six were killed, and protesters argued that a country that has not investigated the October 7 failure 'cannot guarantee it will know how to prevent the next disaster.'
