IDF Kills Hamas Commander Who Infiltrated Israel on Oct. 7 in Al-Shati Strike

The IDF said Friday, August 28, 2026 that it struck and killed Nabil Ibrahim Bass, a Hamas commander who infiltrated Israel on October 7, 2023 and took part in that day's massacre, in the Al-Shati area of Gaza on Thursday, August 27. In a separate strike the same day in the Sabra area of Gaza, the IDF killed Hamdi Ahmad Hamid Kahlil, an observation platoon commander in Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The military characterized both strikes as part of ongoing efforts to prevent Hamas and PIJ from rebuilding their forces, saying the activity violated the ceasefire agreement.
