Kim Jong-un Supervises Hwasong-11 Ra Cluster Munition Missile Tests with Daughter

| North Korea

Kim Jong-un personally supervised the test launches of five Hwasong-11 Ra ('Ra-class') surface-to-surface tactical ballistic missiles equipped with cluster bomb warheads, the second cluster-munition test in April 2026. The missiles flew approximately 140 km toward the East Sea. Kim's daughter Kim Ju-ae was again present at the launch, continuing a pattern of deliberate succession-grooming appearances since 2022. This was the seventh ballistic missile launch of 2026 and the fourth in April alone. Kim also declared North Korea would 'irreversibly' cement its nuclear status and maintain 'limitless expansion' of nuclear forces. South Korea's presidential office convened an emergency security meeting in response. The rapid test pace signals continued pressure on the incoming Trump-Kim diplomatic outreach.
