NATO Allies 'Jointly Discussing' Hormuz Closure Response, Rutte Says
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that allies are 'intensely discussing' how to contend with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz as energy costs continued to climb. Rutte said he expected NATO members to come together to help secure the strait, noting that European countries were not given advance notice of the US-Israel war against Iran and had needed time to respond. Stars and Stripes reported Rutte acknowledged no formal NATO consensus had been reached, while he remained confident allies would ultimately align with Washington's position.
