Junta Airstrike on Vumkhum Village, Mindat Township Kills 8 Civilians Including 3 Children

A Myanmar military airstrike on August 30, 2026 dropped four bombs on Vumkhum village near Mindat Town, Chin State — a resistance-held area roughly 120 miles south of the state capital Hakha — killing 8 civilians, including 3 children (two primary school students and a Grade 9 student), and wounding 15 others. The strike occurred amid an ongoing junta counteroffensive launched in mid-May across three Chin townships. The Chin People's Army said regime airstrikes have repeatedly hit non-military targets across southern Chin State, including homes, schools, medical clinics, and places of worship.
