Resistance Forces Fire Four Rockets at Toungoo Air Base and Kaytumadi Hotel — Attack Reportedly Timed to Min Aung Hlaing's Secret Visit to Bago Region
Brave Warriors for Myanmar and Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 2, Battalion 5 fired four 107mm rockets at Toungoo Air Base (Kaytumadi Air Base) and the adjacent Kaytumadi Hotel meeting hall in Toungoo, Bago Region, on June 6, 2026. According to resistance sources, the attack was timed to a secret visit by junta leader Min Aung Hlaing to the Toungoo area — a claim that, if accurate, would represent the closest resistance strike to the SAC leadership since the coup. Toungoo's Kaytumadi Air Base is a significant SAC military facility in central Myanmar that has been used for staging fighter jets in aerial operations against PDF targets in Bago Region and Tanintharyi. The rocket attack follows a pattern of resistance forces targeting key SAC military infrastructure with 107mm rockets, including the May 23, 2026 rocket attack on the Northwest Regional Military Command HQ in Monywa (8 junta personnel killed, 20+ injured), the March 25 Magway Air Base attack (11 rockets), and multiple PDF precision strikes on junta logistics hubs across 2026. Casualties from the Toungoo attack have not been confirmed. The attack was reported in the June 7 MoeMaKa CDM daily news as an event occurring on June 6.
