Landmine Attack Kills 5 SAC Soldiers, Seriously Wounds 10+ in Natmauk Township, Magway Region
On April 18, 2026, resistance forces conducted a landmine attack on a Myanmar junta military unit in Natmauk Township, Magway Region, killing five SAC soldiers and seriously wounding at least ten more. Natmauk Township in southern Magway Region has become an increasingly active front as PDF units expand operations southward from the Sagaing heartland. Magway Region's PDF network targets both SAC garrison towns and the region's critical oil infrastructure, which provides significant revenue to the junta. PDF units in Natmauk coordinate with the broader Magway Federal Unit (MFU) and receive operational guidance from the SCEF (Steering Council for Federal Democratic Union) framework announced in late March 2026. Landmine warfare has been a critical force-multiplier for the PDF, compensating for limited firepower by degrading SAC troop movements and supply convoys. The April 18 attack is among the deadliest single landmine incidents in Magway in 2026, with 5 killed and 10+ seriously wounded.
