SAC Continues Near-Daily Airstrikes Across Sagaing — Wuntho Township Villages Bombed
SAC jets continued their near-daily aerial campaign against civilian communities in Sagaing Region on April 9, conducting bombing runs against villages in Wuntho Township in northern Sagaing. Wuntho Township lies in the Shwebo-Sagaing corridor — an area that has experienced repeated SAC airstrikes throughout 2025-2026 as the junta targets communities with suspected PDF presence or resistance support. The April 9 strikes maintained the pattern of relentless aerial bombardment of Sagaing documented since the junta's parliament convened on March 16, during which period at least 100 civilians were killed across the region according to the Irrawaddy. Access restrictions by the SAC prevented immediate independent casualty verification. The continuation of intensive airstrikes while Min Aung Hlaing was scheduled to be inaugurated as 'civilian' president underscored the disconnect between the junta's cosmetic political transition and its ongoing military operations against civilians.
