PRM Renamed PRI — First Civilian President
The PRM was renamed Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) under Miguel Alemán, who also became Mexico's first civilian president in the post-revolutionary era. The renaming reflected the party's claim to have institutionalized the revolution and its shift toward technocratic governance. Alemán's presidency began Mexico's industrialization-first development model, favoring capital over labor.
