Morena Presents Two New Laws, 19 Amendments in Anti-Corruption Package Ahead of Congress Opening

Presidential legal adviser Luisa María Alcalde presented Morena legislators in both the Senate and Chamber of Deputies with the federal government's anti-corruption legislative package ahead of the September 1 opening of the ordinary congressional session. The package comprises two new laws and 19 amendments, developed in coordination with the Anti-Corruption Secretariat, the Federal Administrative Justice Tribunal, and the Federal Audit Office (ASF). It aims to strengthen audit powers, mandate real-time technological monitoring of budget execution, and reinforce transparency in public contracting — building on the 'total transparency' decree Sheinbaum signed August 4. It forms one strand of a larger 31-item Morena legislative agenda for the session that also includes the dual-nationality ban, the 2027 economic package, and AI/social-media regulation.
